Jeff Powell joined Constantine Cannon as an associate in the New York office in August 2006. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation.
Prior to joining Constantine Cannon, Mr. Powell was an associate with Pillsbury Winthrop LLP, where he conducted extensive legal research and assisted in drafting pleadings, motions and memoranda of law. He also worked on discovery matters in areas involving insurance coverage of CERCLA claims, shareholders' securities fraud litigation, and state class-action lawsuits brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Mr. Powell's pro bono commitment included participation with inMotion to provide legal representation to economically disadvantaged women. Mr. Powell is a graduate of the Harvard Law School. During law school he was a member of the Harvard Defenders, representing low-income clients in criminal show-cause hearings, and did specialized research on electoral law reforms in the wake of the 2000 U.S. Presidential election. Mr. Powell received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the South at Sewanee, Tennessee. His studies focused on International Relations and included a year at the Institut fuer Europaeische Studien in Vienna, Austria, in a program for Eastern European studies. Mr. Powell is admitted to practice in the State of New York as well as the federal district court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. |
